Vegetarian restaurant dishing up traditional Marathi cuisine in a relaxed space.
Mast Marathi Restaurant offers authentic Maharashtrian dishes but faces service issues during busy times.
We had multiple dishes here. Sabudana wada, Sabudana Khichadi, Misal, etc. The food was quite tasty and the atmosphere was good. The taste was authentic Maharashtrian. One thing that we felt about food was that Sabudana wada and Sabudana Khichadi can be served with Dahi as is done in Maharashtra. The chutney served with both these dishes was a little bland and we took dahi separately which elevated the taste. Other than this small detail, food was quite tasty. The chai was especially Good. The place was clean and hygienic. Washroom was clean as well. We went during the weekend still the place was not crowded. There was ample parking space opposite the restaurant. The staff members help you in finding the place if required. One suggestion though, when we went in, the owners were there. Once they left, the place became quite loud with the chatter of staff, noise of utensils, etc (it was quite noticeable ane disturbing). So much so that I felt the need to mention this in the review to let the owners know.
This visit perfectly highlights the struggle of a Maharashtrian in Bangalore forced to settle for mediocre food masquerading as "Marathi cuisine." When you enter a restaurant in HSR, especially on a crowded weekend, you expect the place to have some kind of token system available to assign tables fast. But Mast Marathi did not have anything in place. It took us good 30 minutes to find a table, which we found on our own. The staff was not helpful in any way. Then we hit the "self-serve" queue, which was basically a ghost town. We stood there for a good 15–20 minutes because there wasn’t a single soul at the counter to actually take our order. After that, finally we were able to place our orders, and then the horror began. We waited for good 45 minutes to an hour for the food to be served. It was very clear that the restaurant was prioritizing online orders over in-restaurant orders, which is the worst way you can handle a business. I get that they’re a small team, but you can't handle weekend rushes without a proper system. They desperately need a better way to manage the crowd. In addition to this, as a Maharashtrian, I can vouch that the food is not the greatest that you get in the city. There are better places you can go to find local Maharashtrian food. The entire experience was supposed to give us a food coma because we went expecting that, but instead it gave us a headache.
Ahh this might be one the best places I tried Marathi food in Bangalore. The food was decent, we tried: • Misal pav • Kothimbir Vadi • Solkadhi • Aam panna • Ukadiche Modak (loved this!!) I am definitely going to come back for more! The ambiance was top notch and the price was reasonable.
I was searching for a good Marathi restaurant and came across Mast Marathi. Based on the name and concept, I expected a great experience, so I decided to visit and try their Aamras Thali. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bit disappointing. The chapati was not properly cooked, and the batata sabji felt quite average—similar to basic mess food. The aamras tasted slightly sour, and it seemed like extra sugar was added to balance the taste, which didn’t feel authentic. The service took around 15 minutes for the thali, which would have been fine if the quality matched the wait, but it didn’t feel worth the money. Overall, the taste needs improvement. That said, the thecha and kanda bhaji were the highlights—they actually had the authentic Marathi flavor that I was expecting. The ambiance and seating arrangement were good, and the staff was friendly and polite. Overall, a decent place in terms of ambiance, but the food quality and taste need improvement to justify the pricing.
