Cakewala

I have visited Cakewala many times and it’s a great place if you’re looking for fresh baked items. They have a good variety of cakes, pastries, desserts, puffs, breads, and other snacks to choose from. Their cakes are delicious, fresh, and soft. I would definitely recommend trying them. Their puffs are also very good and they offer a wide variety such as chilli bhaji puff, corn capsicum puff, chilli paneer puff, veg spicy puff and more. I’ve tried a few of their puffs and spring rolls and really liked the taste. The prices are quite affordable as well. The place is clean, well maintained, and the staff is polite. They also have a nice section with neatly arranged packaged baked items, cookies, and snacks which are perfect if you want to quickly pick up something to take home or for gifting. Overall, a great spot in HSR Layout for fresh cakes, snacks, and quick bites. 😊

Cakewala’s mango cake is light, creamy, and pleasantly fruity without being overly sweet. The mango flavor feels fresh and blends well with the soft sponge layers. The cake is moist and smooth, making it a good seasonal dessert option, especially during summer.

Its a moderate sized place filled with aroma of freshly baked goods, making it cozier for all sorts of groups! We got some pastries, mostly sticking to chocolate and coffee flavoured ones(our personal bias) and they tasted SO GODAMN GOOD!!! It was a sweet ending to our day! We were hit by sugar rush with the last bites in our mouths, loved this place in hsr🫶🏻🌻

I’ve been a regular at Cakewala for several years, but unfortunately, I’ve noticed a significant decline in their quality recently. My visit this past Saturday was particularly disappointing. We tried a variety of pastries, and all of them were overwhelmingly sugary, lacking any real depth of flavor. More concerning was the texture; the bread was quite hard and lacked the freshness and softness that used to be a staple here. Even the tea cakes (we tried the mango and walnut variants, priced around ₹150) were a letdown this time—the sponge felt dry and dense compared to how they used to be. While the prices have moved into a more premium category, the quality of the ingredients and the final taste simply don't match the cost anymore. The only consistent highlight is the large glass window looking into the kitchen. It’s still great for kids to watch the cakes being prepared, which they find very engaging. However, given the recent dip in standards, I think it’s time to start looking for better local alternatives in HSR.
