This was my first visit to a dermatologist, and unfortunately, it was quite disappointing. I consulted Dr. Shishira for my acne concerns. During the consultation, I felt that there was very little effort to understand my condition in detail. I was not asked about the history of my acne, possible triggers, diet, skincare routine, lifestyle, or any other factors that could be contributing to the issue. The only question I was asked was whether my menstrual cycles were regular. When I mentioned that I have PCOD, the conversation quickly shifted toward recommending chemical peels. A significant portion of the consultation was spent explaining and promoting these procedures, that don’t even guarantee any results. I was also prescribed an antibacterial tablet for 30 days, but there was very limited discussion about the underlying causes of my acne or alternative treatment approaches. Considering the consultation fee of ₹700, I expected a more thorough assessment and a patient-centered discussion. Instead, I left feeling disappointed and dissatisfied with the overall experience.
