Customers enjoy the lively ambiance and affordable pricing, but some express concerns about hygiene and service charges.
Great place to relax with friends. Good food, drinks, nice ambiance. The staff were polite and attentive. One of the better bar & restaurant experiences in Bangalore. If you are coming in large numbers please book before you visit. They will be arranging your table. Definitely worth visiting again.
Great service by Mohammad quick orders. Really loved the Basha fish — very tasty and fresh. The veg, chicken, and prawns starters were also good. Mocktails and juices were refreshing. Nice dim-light ambience with open-air seating, which adds to the experience. Only downside is parking — even two-wheelers can be difficult to park on the opposite side when it gets crowded.
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly yet happening place in HSR Layout, Somaras Bar and Kitchen is definitely worth checking out. This place is quite popular among youngsters and working professionals, and it gets heavily crowded during peak hours, especially on weekends. So, if you want a good seat or a relaxed experience, making a reservation in advance is highly recommended. The ambiance is one of the biggest highlights here—lively, energetic, and perfect for a fun evening with friends. We visited this place a few times with our group, and the vibe always felt fun and happening. Whether you’re planning a casual outing, a birthday celebration, or just a chill night out, the atmosphere fits all moods perfectly. The staff is well-trained, attentive, and manages the crowd efficiently, which is impressive considering how busy the place gets. Coming to the food, it offers great value for money. The taste is satisfying across most dishes, and their bar snacks pair really well with the drinks. The menu also has a good variety of beers and cocktails, giving plenty of options to explore. One major advantage is the pricing—it is comparatively cheaper than many other bars and kitchens in HSR Layout, which makes it attractive for regular hangouts. However, one concern we personally faced during multiple visits was related to hygiene and food quality consistency. A few times after dining here, some of us experienced stomach pain and health discomfort. We regularly visit many other places as well and did not face similar issues elsewhere. Because of this, we feel the management should pay more attention to maintaining hygiene standards and product quality. Affordable pricing is great, but quality and cleanliness should never be compromised. Overall, Somaras Bar and Kitchen has an energetic crowd, good ambiance, and pocket-friendly pricing, but improving hygiene standards would make the experience much better and more reliable for customers.
Visited Somras Bar & Kitchen over the weekend. The place was extremely crowded, and while the vibe wasn’t particularly great, it was still manageable. I was already aware from previous reviews that they charge a service charge despite the rule stating it’s not mandatory. Continuing to add it to the bill feels unfair. We chose not to argue about it, as many reviewers have mentioned facing resistance and attitude when questioning it, and ultimately being compelled to pay. Coming to the food — prices are comparatively low, which is a positive. We tried the Peri Peri Chicken Wings, which were disappointing; the chicken was very hard and didn’t taste good. The Peri Peri Chicken Tikka, however, was very good and something I genuinely enjoyed. Banjara Chicken Tikka was also yum. The Chicken Nachos were average. Service was okay considering the crowd. Overall, it’s an average place. The main highlight is the affordable pricing, but there’s definitely room for improvement in food consistency and customer approach regarding the service charge.
